Russell Eugene Remboldt Sr., 74, Fargo, formerly of Gackle, passed away peacefully, Friday March 7, 2008 at Meritcare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.

Russ was born August 13, 1933 at Gackle, ND, the son of Arthur J. Remboldt and Tillie (Hehn) Remboldt. He attended country school, NE of Gackle, and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He entered the United States Army December of 1956 and was discharged February 11, 1958 with the rank of PFC.

Russell farmed until his retirement in March 2002. He and Bonnie Smith were married January 2, 1990 at Fargo. Russell was a kind and patient man, who loved life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Russ and Bonnie enjoyed their time camping, traveling and golfing.

He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Gackle and also served on the Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery Board of Gackle.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Fargo, ND, his mother, Tillie, Jamestown, ND, his children, Russ Jr. (Teresa) Remboldt, Gackle, ND, Holly (David) Wald, Edgeley, ND, Michelle (Todd) Wirth, Piedmont, SD, Dean (Shelley) Smith, Milbank, SD, Scott (Pam Cothren) Smith, Summerville, SC, 10 grandchildren, Corey (fiancé- Samantha Gefroh) Remboldt, Ashley (fiancé- Richard Zabka) Remboldt, Wayne, Whitney and Weston Wald, Brandon (fiance-Linda Boschee) and Brent Smith, Brittani, Haley Smith, and Dawson Wirth, and 1 great granddaughter, Dezarae Boschee.

He was preceded in death by his father, 1 brother, Delmar "Ron" Remboldt, and a great granddaughter, Autumn Remboldt.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 13, 2008 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Darren Purdy, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery, NE of Gackle, ND.

The Remboldt Family, Just wanted to share my sincere sympathy for your loss of Russ. When I worked for ASCS/FSA, Russ was always a nice man to work with on farm programs. I see that he retired in 2002 but I am sure he was still always around the farm.

Dear Bonnie and family, I am so sorry to hear about Russ passing away. He will be truly missed. It's just not the same going to Mom and Dad's apt. without seeing him sitting on the deck to greet us. I still sit at Moms some days and think Russ will just knock and come in and sit down. He could always make us laugh especially when we played cards. Bonnie just know you are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope to get to Fargo real soon and I'll stop by to see you.
