Edward H. Becker 92, Jamestown, ND, died Monday morning April 14, 2008 at the Central Dakota Village in Jamestown, ND.

Edward Becker was born on September 20, 1915, on the family farm 11 miles east of Napoleon, ND to Henry H. and Katherina (Kogler) Becker. Edward was born with a twin brother, Arthur Becker.

Edward was raised on his parents' farm and was educated in a one-roomed rural school through the 8th grade.
Edward married Esther J. Buck on November 28, 1943 in Streeter. They farmed on the family homestead from 1943 until 1962. In 1962 they purchased the Albert Ketterling farm and moved to that farmstead. In 1979 Edward and Esther retired and moved to Napoleon. Esther died on November 28, 2001. In January of 2002, Edward moved to the Post House in Jamestown. After a severe stroke on April 7, 2008, Edward entered Central Dakota Nursing Home on April 10, 2008.

Edward was an active member and church council member at Hope EUB Church rural Streeter, and the United Methodist Churches in both Napoleon and Streeter. Edward also served on the school board of Highland School District.

Edward enjoyed farming, family, friends, fishing, hunting, card playing, reading, baseball and watching TV.

Edward is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Joanna Ringrose (Neal Reid), Oakville, Ontario; Elayne (Elroy) Patzner, Jamestown, ND; and Jacqueline (Joseph) Becker, Bismarck, ND; 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Dr. Garry Becker (Dr. Rita), Gillette, WY; Dr. Gaylynn (Linda) Becker, Bismarck, ND: Arlynn (Bethany) Becker, Napoleon, ND; AlLynn Becker and Joe DuFloth, Minneapolis, MN; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Becker, Fargo, ND.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther;1 grandson, Brian Reid, two sisters Ida Zimmerman, and Tillie Lang; one brother Arthur; and 4 brothers who died in childhood.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday April 19, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Streeter, ND with Rev. Darwin Kopfmann, and Rev. Grant Piehl, officiating.

Edward will be buried in the Napoleon Cemetery along with his wife Esther and beside his parents.

Arrangements are by the Haut Funeral Homes in Jamestown, ND.
Visitation - 9-5 Thursday and Friday at the Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND

Our Dear Cousins, Bob and I are so sorry for the loss of Uncle Eddie. We wish we could be there to be with all of you, but are stuck working. We are so glad we celebrated his most recent birthdays with all of you these last few years. We love all you guys so much and pray for God's comfort during this sad time. Love, Rose & Bob

Ahhhh, our Uncle Eddy! Time will tell if I can make the trek to ND for Saturday's services. Oh, the excitement long ago when we knew "Uncle Eddy's" were coming down the road! No phones back then, you know. The fun we had must have brought great joy to our parents and our aunts and uncles; we always had lots of fun! I'll miss our chance to share a couple of glasses of wine, dear uncle! But, I can't have any any more anyway so, just as well. Fare Well. Love, General Lee

Sending our deepest sympathies to all the Cousins, and also assurances that this is just the beginning of God's Promise of Eternal Life. Because HE LIVES.... My fondest memories of Uncle Eddie were watching him and my Dad doing their traditional "walkabouts" after family meals together. (This was to scope out the latest machinery purchases, and what better way to get out of doing dishes, eh?) Another was the sandlot (or in our case, gravel lot) baseball games....what fun they were!! Can still see Eddie sitting there with his big grin and having a good laugh at our antics! Again, God's Peace to All of you who mourn his loss.

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing, my it has been a long time when you were children and came to Vacation Bible School at the SDA church there on the Flat, my mom and dad Adam and Mary Hoffman were always so impressed with you as children and even after I had moved away they would tell me all about VBS. One by onethose farmers there in the Streeter area are passing on. In my thoughts as you say goodbye Marlene Hoffman Eichelberg
