Obituary

Christina Schlenker, 98, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday October 15, 2008 at the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.

Christina Schlittenhard was born November 8, 1909, the daughter of Carl Schlittenhard and Elizabeth (Stockberger) Schlittenhard. She received her elementary education in the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and John G. Schlenker were married May 30, 1931 at Kulm, ND. They made their home on the farm of his parents, later moving to a farm SW of Jud in Raney Township where they farmed until 1949. They moved to Jamestown where he worked for a Grocery Company and she was a housewife. Following their retirement in 1971 they continued to reside in Jamestown. John passed away December 31, 1981 and she has continued to reside in Jamestown.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and reading her Bible.

Surviving are 2 sons, Norbert (Darlene)Schlenker, Winston, OR,
Leland (VerDella) Schlenker, Mandan, ND, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son in infancy, 1 grandson, Timothy, 4 sisters, Lydia, Katherine, Rebecca, Bertha, 2 brothers Reinhold and Arthur.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday October 20, 2008 in St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND with Dr. Gary Ball-Kilbourne, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.

The girls and I got to come to Jamestown in July. Grandma was so happy when we all walked into her room, she couldn't get out of that chair fast enough. It was a long way to go for a couple lunches and a barbecue but well worth it. Enjoy that place you so wanted to go. We will see you again some day. Love ya, Linda

My sisters and I had the opportunity to see grandma in July. We had lunch with her a couple of days, and took her to a barbecue. I like to think that we gave her some joy in those days that we were there. Goodbye grandma. We will miss you. Love Rick and Cindy
