Bennie Opp, 80, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday evening October 15, 2008 at his home in Jamestown, ND.
Bennie was born May 4, 1928 at the family farm home SW of Streeter, ND, the son of George and Elizabeth (Himmerich) Opp. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He and Genevieve Strehle were married October 29, 1950 at Streeter, ND. They made their home in Glendive, MT for 1 year before returning to the family farm. They then moved to their farm 1 mile west of Streeter where they have resided for 54 years. They moved in to Jamestown in 2005.
He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Streeter, and served as church trustee. He enjoyed playing cards and especially loved farming and combining.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve, Jamestown, ND, 1 daughter, Lola Allred, Peyton, CO, 2 brothers, Reinhold (Esther) Opp, Napoleon, ND, Arthur (Alice) Opp, Medina, ND, and 1 sister, Frieda Rau, Napoleon, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Anthony, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday October 21, 2008 at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Streeter, ND, with Rev. Chris Hogstad, pastor officiating.
The interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter, ND.
Prayer Service - 7:00 PM Monday at the Funeral Home
Visitation - 1-8 Sunday and 9-9 Monday at the Funeral Home
