Marvelyn Gumke, 90, Jamestown, ND died Thursday January 22, 2009 at the Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Marvelyn Brady was born September 17, 1918 at Jud, ND, the daughter of Thomas and Louise (Bauer) Brady. She attended the local rural school and Jud High School.

She and Gerhard Gumke were married July 2, 1936 at Edgeley, ND. They made their home 9 miles SE of Gackle, until 1939 when they moved to a farm near Jud. In 1942 they moved to the farm 2 miles east of Alfred where they farmed until 1972. In 1978 they moved into Alfred. Following the death of her husband in 1979 she continued to live in Alfred, later moving to Jud. She entered the Gackle Care Center for 1 year and in the fall of 2008 she entered the Hi-Acres Manor.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle.

She is survived by her children, Gordon (Darlene) Gumke, Streeter, ND; Mary Lou (Harvey) Konrad, Jud, ND; Murray (Karen) Gumke, Jamestown, ND; LaDonna (Gordie) Berg, Bismarck, ND; Marlin Gumke, Lisbon, ND; 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother, Bill (Lillian) Brady, Clearwater, KS; and 1 sister, Elnora Gumke, Edgeley, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, Robert and Ramone, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday January 26, 2009 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Gackle, ND with Rev. Russ Pollock, officiating

The interment will be made in the spring at Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, ND.

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Sunday @ the funeral home in Gackle
Family Gathering - 7:00 P.M. Sunday @ the funeral home in Gackle

My deepest sympathy to the family of Aunt Marvelyn. I still remember all the great times I had on the farm when ever we would come to visit. She had a wonderful gift of laughter. She was a wonderful lady and I am going to miss her.
