Martha Heller, 91, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday March 25, 2009 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.
Martha Heller was born July 7, 1917 on the family farm 14 miles SE of Gackle, ND, the daughter of Samuel Heller and Katherine (Gumke) Heller. She attended Feska School and grew to womanhood and helped on the family farm. She worked hard on the farm doing milking, feeding the chickens, cleaning the farm, haying and other fieldwork.
She made her home on the family farm with her brother John and her sister Elsie until they moved into Gackle in October of 1976 for their retirement. In 2004 she and her sister Elsie entered the Gackle Care Center and in 2007 she moved to the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.
Martha enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and other fancy work.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND.
She is survived by her sister, Bertha Elhard, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, John; 4 sisters, Emma, Mary, Elsie and Ida.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday March 28, 2009 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Russell Pollock, officiating.
The interment will be at the St. James Lutheran Cemetery SE of Gackle, ND.
Visitation: 9 - 5 Friday March 27 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown and 6 - 9 Friday and 9-12 Saturday at the Haut Funeral Home in Gackle.
