Harold Martel, 78, Mayville, ND died Tuesday morning June 9, 2009 at the Union Hospital in Mayville, ND.
Harold Martel was born July 17, 1930 at in Medina, ND, the son of Ernest Martel and Mary (Hins) Martel. He was educated and raised in Medina.
He entered the USMC February 20, 1952 at Fargo, ND. He was discharged February 11, 1954 with the rank of PFC.
He and Annette Ambers were married November 15, 1958 at Fargo, ND.
Harold spent over 30 years working for Great Plains Supply lumber yards
in Fessenden, ND and Finley, ND. Upon retirement in 1995 Harold and Annette moved from Sharon, ND to Mayville, ND.
He was a member of the Congregational Church and the American Legion.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, reading western novels, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a great loved for the dogs, horses and outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Annette, Mayville, ND; 2 sons, Steve (Lori) Martel, Fargo, ND; Mitchell (Dionna) Martel, Fargo, ND; 3 grandsons, Brett, Jared, Travis; 1 granddaughter, Marissa; 2 brothers, Richard (Patricia) Martel, Bismarck, ND; Marvin (Donna) Martel, Bismarck, ND; 6 sisters, Rosie (Frank) Bohn, Medina, ND; Jacqualine (Rudolph) Hoffmann, Medina, ND; Delores (John) Mittleider, Bismarck, ND; Ruth Martel, Denver CO; Dorothy (Thomas) Mahoney, Bismarck, ND; Linda (Dean) Jose, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday June 13, 2009 at the United Church of Christ in Medina, ND with Rev. Karl Limvere, pastor officiating.
The interment will be at the Medina Cemetery in Medina, ND.
