Robert L. Hodgson, 72, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday evening July 8, 2009 at his home in Jamestown, ND.
Robert Luke Hodgson was born June 1, 1937 at Cairo, Nebraska, the son of Clyde Hodgson and Rosemary (O'Brien) Hodgson. He received his elementary education in Woodriver, NE, graduating from high school in 1955. He then moved to Longmont, CO where he was employed with the Railroad.
He and LaVonne Julson were married March 29, 1959 in Denver, CO. They made their home in Longmont where he continued to work for the Railroad until 1966. He then became employed in construction and worked on the Tallest building in Denver at that time. In 1967 they moved to Plaza, ND where he worked for the Mountrail County Road Crew until 1968. He was employed with Farmers Union Oil Company for a short time and in 1969 he went to work for the ND Highway Dept until retiring in 1997. They moved to Jamestown where they have resided.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, ND, Knights of Columbus, Plaza Park Board and Sacred Heart Catholic Church - Trustee for many years.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons and 3 daughters, Cynthia (Kenneth) Bloms, Jamestown, ND; Stephen (Joan) Hodgson, Minot, ND; Randall (Kori) Hodgson, Blair, NE; Cheryl (Mark) Miller, Rolla, ND; Jolene (Doug) Temple, Monticello, MN; 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 1 brother, Annabelle Wicht, Grand Island, NE; Ramon Hodgson, Thornton, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandchild, Ty Miller, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Ronald, Richard, Mary Agnes and Dorothy
The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday July 13, 2009, in the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, ND with Father Al Bitz, pastor officiating.
The interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND
