Christ Wegner, 95, Alfred, ND died Sunday evening July 12, 2009 at the Ave Marie Village in Jamestown, ND.
Christian Wegner was born October 25, 1913 near Alfred, ND, the son of Gottfried and Pauline (Schlenker) Wegner. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood. In 1937 he attended Hanson Auto Body School at Fargo.
He and Alma Krause were married June 21, 1938 at Alfred, ND. They lived on the family farm until 1941, at which time they purchased a farm 4 miles north of Alfred, where they resided until 1976. In May of 1976 they moved into Gackle, ND. In June of 2007 he moved into the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Gackle, ND. He was also a Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed farming all his life. He enjoyed watching the crops grow, combining and picking rocks. He probably picked tons of rocks.
He is survived by his wife, Alma, Gackle, ND; 1 daughter, Jean Johnson, Springfield, VA; 2 sons, Thomas (Jolyne) Wegner, Alfred, ND; Timothy (Coleen) Wegner, Rosemount, MN; 5 grandchildren, Todd Wegner, Alfred, ND; Paul (Megan) Wegner, Castle Rock, CO; Steven (Erin) Wegner, Johnstown, CO; Christi Jo (Troy) Nelson, West Fargo, ND; Heidi (Khoa) Ha, Ankeny, IA; 8 great grandchildren, Janessa, Maranda, Devin, Lucy, Henry, Walter, Norman, Spencer; and 2 sisters, Hulda Konrad and Anna Krause, both of Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son-in-law, Hans, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday July 18, 2009 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating.
The interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND.
