Gottfried Dewald, 85, Streeter, ND died Wednesday November 4, 2009 at the SCCI Hospital in Mandan, ND
Gottfried Dewald was born December 20, 1923, on the family farm NW of Streeter, ND, to Peter and Albina (Dorr) Dewald. He received his education at the rural school and finished in Streeter. He grew up in the Streeter area where he worked on the family farm.
He and Martha Ebel were married February 9, 1951 at Medina, ND. They made their home on the farm North of Streeter where he farmed until 1992 when he retired.
He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Streeter. He served on the Church Board for many years and also the Rural Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, Streeter, ND; 2 sons, Steven (Kathleen) Dewald, Waterbury, CT; Mark (Pamela) Dewald, Allen, TX; his grandchildren, Brent and Niki, Jason and Jill Dewald, Joshua Dewald, Jeremy Dewald, Dustin Dewald, Nicholas Melby, Erin Melby, Heather Melby; Great grandchildren, Braxton Dewald, Brayden Dewald, Jackson Dewald, Joseph Dewald, Addison Dewald, Dalsten Melby, Dodge Melby, Logan Rice; 2 brothers, Otto (Lea) Dewald, Bennie Dewald, Streeter, ND; 3 sisters, Irene Gienger, Sacremento, CA; Pauline Landowski, St. Cloud, MN; Evangeline (Mike) Nenow, Jamestown, ND; 2 sisters-in-Law, Bertha Dewald, Jamestown, ND; June Dewald, Streeter, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Ephraim, Philip, Alfred, Verner, 2 sisters, Otillia and Leona.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday November 8, 2009 at the Hope United Church of Christ in Streeter, ND with Pastor Chris Hogstad, officiating.
The interment will be at the Streeter Cemetery in Streeter, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM Saturday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.
Visitation: 3 - 8 Saturday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.
