Obituary

Jewell Karn, 80, Wimbledon, ND died Wednesday February 17, 2010 at her home near Wimbledon.

Jewell Henne was born February 12, 1930 at Edgeley, ND, the daughter of Christian and Adeline (Dufloth) Henne. She lived in Alfred, ND until 1940 when they moved to Jamestown where she attended school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948. She taught in rural schools for a short time.

She and Francis Karn were married October 29, 1956 in Moorhead, MN. They made their home south of Wimbledon, ND where they farmed. After the death of her husband in 2008, she continued to reside there.

She is survived by her son, Dale (Sue) Karn, Wimbledon, ND; 2 grandchildren, Jamie Kramlich, Courtenay, ND; Michael Martenay, Gretna, NE; 4 great grandchildren, Justin, Katie, Jake and Jayce Kramlich, and 2 sisters, Glennis (Gary) Rath, Broadview, MT; and Adeline Miller, Portland, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 1 sister, LaVon.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday February 20, 2010 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Robert Hill, officiating.

The interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon, ND in the spring.

Visitation - 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Friday @ the funeral home

So very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear mother. I don't think a Halloween season goes by that Mike doesn't recall the great parties she used to have for you Dale. He said they were always so well decorated and very scary. What a wonderful mother she must have been! You are in our prayers. Mike & Pam

Dale and Sue, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. It is always such a shock. I don't know any of the details, but it always is too soon. Your mom was such a nice person, I liked her very much. One of my memories is of her grocery shopping at Warehouse Foods (where the Hardees in Jamestown is now), loading case after case of soda into the car (a station wagon - wasn't it?). She spoiled you rotten. There was never any doubt how much love she had for you both, as well as your three boys. It has been a long time since we have been together, but I have always felt both of you in my heart. I hope that time will bring peace to your mind and the good memories will soon come and will linger forever. Both of you were there during the loss of my parents and my prayers are with you both now during your time of loss. My deepest sympathies to you, and blessings to you both. Eric
