Muriel M. Haut, 76, Jamestown, ND died Thursday morning March 18, 2010 at the Hi-Acres Manor nursing home in Jamestown, ND.

Muriel Schauer was born March 10, 1934 at Streeter, ND, the daughter of Fred Schauer and Mathilda (Dockter) Schauer. She received her education in Streeter and graduated from Streeter High School in 1952. She graduated from Valley City State College receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1957. She taught school in Elgin and Williston, ND.

She and Eugene N. Haut were married June 17, 1958 at Streeter, ND. They made their home in Gackle where they operated the Haut Funeral Home and the ambulance service. In 1968, the family moved to Jamestown continuing to operate the funeral home in Gackle and opening the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown. Following her retirement in 1996 she continued to reside in Jamestown. In 2009 she entered the Hi-Acres Manor nursing home in Jamestown.

She was a member of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, ND. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cribbage, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her 5 Children Gary (Jan) Haut, Roger (Margo) Haut, Ann Haut, all of Jamestown, ND; Alan (Missy) Haut, Fargo, ND; Jay (Nicole) Haut, Jamestown; 7 grandchildren, Mike, Truman, Lexus, Chandler, Adam, Ethan and Gavin; 2 sisters, Evangeline Schauer, Bismarck, ND; Diana (Delano) Spitzer, Minneapolis, MN; 4 brothers, Kermit (Phyllis) Schauer, Las Cruces, NM; Floyd (Bernice) Schauer, Jamestown, ND; Ronald Schauer, Bismarck, ND; Ned (Nancy) Schauer, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 sister, Susan.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday March 22, 2010 at the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, ND with Fr. Al Bitz, officiating.

The interment will be at the Gackle cemetery in Gackle, ND.

Visitation will be 1-5 Saturday and 1-9 Sunday at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.

Prayer service will be held at 7:00 on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
