Yvonne Hanzal, 57, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday April 18, 2010 at the Innovis Health Center in Fargo, ND
Yvonne Helfenstein was born June 6, 1952 at Ashley, ND the daughter of Ruben Helfenstein and Eunice (Ehley) Helfenstein. She attended the Anne Carlsen School and graduated in 1970. She went on to Lake Region Junior College in Devil's Lake, ND. She then attended and graduated from Moorhead State College with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Speech Pathology.
She and Steven Hanzal were married June 21, 1975 in Ashley, ND. They made their home in Fargo, ND where she ran a group home until 1981. They then moved to Jamestown, ND, where she was employed by Progress Enterprises later working at the Human Service Center. She worked at the Anne Carlsen Center for 9 years. Recently she was employed at the State Hospital in the Adolescent Unit, until December of 2009 when she retired.
She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. She was also very passionate about the American Disability Act of 1990.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Hanzal, Jamestown, ND; 1 son Josh Hanzal, Albuquerque, NM; her mother, Eunice Helfenstein, Fargo, ND; 2 sisters, Yvette (Doug) Nasset, Fargo, ND; Runette (Dean) Schultz, Perham, MN and 1 brother, Ryan (Cheri) Helfenstein, Belgium.
She was preceded in death by her father.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday April 23, 2010 at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Ken Bowman, officiating.
No visitation scheduled.
