Lydena Ruff, 56, Gackle, ND died Wednesday evening January 27, 2011 at Med Center One in Bismarck, ND.

Lydena Henke was born October 6, 1954 at Jamestown, ND, the daughter of Elmer Henke and Delores (Dehne) Henke. She received her elementary education in Alfred, ND and Graduated from Gackle High School in 1972. She went on to Mr. D's Town & Country Beauty College in Jamestown and owned and operated Dena's Beauty Shop in Gackle, ND for a number of years.

She and Jerome Ruff were married October 1, 1976 in Gackle, ND. They made their home Southeast of Gackle where they operated a small grain and dairy farm throughout their marriage. After the death of her husband in 1997 she moved into Gackle. In 2002 she worked at Wal-Mart in Jamestown and continued to reside in Gackle.

She was a member of First United Church of Christ in Gackle, ND. She held many offices in the church.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Stacy Ruff, Gackle, ND; 2 sons, Ryan (Malauree) Ruff, Pingree, ND; Robert Ruff, Gackle, ND; 4 grandchildren, Dillon, Alexander, Cale and Eastyn; her mother, Delores Henke, Bismarck, ND; 3 brothers, Loren (Roxanne) Henke, Wishek, ND; Larry (Marguerite) Henke, Zimmerman, MN; Lynn (Pam) Henke, Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday January 31, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Linda Schauer, officiating.

The interment will be at the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND in the spring.

I had the privilage of working with Lydena at the Walmart store for a number of years. She was a very nice person to be around, even after she got sick. Always had a smile to give you. She will be greatly missed.

Stacy,Ryan,Rob we are so sorry for your loss. Your Mom has a very special place in our hearts. Her kindness, caring and concern for others made her a special lady. Lydena kept me well supplied with daily e-mails. My inbox just isn't the same with out her. Your Mom and Dad have been a special part of Bruce's life for many years . I am so glad that they were a part of mine also. We have many fond memories of them both. We will cherish those memories. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
