Esther Buerkle

Esther Buerkle, 94, Fredonia, ND died Saturday morning April 9, 2011 at the Bethany Nursing Home in Fargo, ND.

Esther Buerkle was born April 26, 1916 at the family farm near Fredonia, ND, the daughter of John H. Buerkle and Christina (Hehr) Buerkle. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.

She and Wilhelm G. Schultz were married December 20, 1942 at Fredonia, ND. They made their home on the farm 5 miles NE of Fredonia, ND. Following the death of her husband, February 7, 1968, she continued to reside on the farm until 1975.

She and Theo Buerkle were married November 23, 1981 at Fredonia, ND. They made their home in Wishek, ND where they retired and in August of 1999 they moved to Edgeley. Following the death of her husband in 2002 she moved to Jamestown and in November 2004 she moved to Fargo, ND.

She was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, served as a Sunday School Teacher, ALCW vice president, the food committee, Altar Guild, church choir and also a member of the Fredonia Community Club. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening, crocheting and quilting.

She is survived by her 2 children, Marcella D. (Darvin) Becker, Fargo, ND; Howard E. (Linda) Schultz, Fredonia, ND; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 step children, Burnette (Harry) Schlenker, Jud, ND; LeRoy (Edna) Buerkle, Yuma, AZ; Curtis (Dorothy) Buerkle, Jud, ND; Arnie (Connie) Buerkle, Kulm, ND; Vernie (Donna) Buerkle, Avon Lake, OH; and 15 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday April 14, 2011 in the Martin Luther Lutheran Church at Fredonia, ND with Rev. Adam Roberts, officiating

The interment will be made in the Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery at Fredonia, ND.

Visitation- 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Wednesday @ the funeral home in Gackle

Prayer Service - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday @ the church in Fredonia
