Obituary

Roger Tanaka, 67, Streeter, ND died Early Thursday Morning September 22, 2011 at the St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Roger Tanaka was born July 20, 1944 at Chicago, IL, the son of John Tanaka and Miyoko Tanaka. He moved with his family to Japan when he was young, and moved to Seattle, WA. He received his education in Japan and also Kent, WA where he went to high school, graduating in 1961. He went on to college at Pacific University in Seattle, WA, and studied Psychology.

He entered the US Army at Seattle, WA, served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.

He and Grace Southhard were married September 5, 1982 at Kent, WA. They made their home in Auburn, WA until 2001 when they moved to Streeter, ND.

He was a buyer for the Military PX System. He worked for the North Dakota State Prison in Jamestown, ND from 2004 to 2009 when he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, Streeter, ND; 1 daughter, Jessica (Les) Anderson, Red Bluff, CA; 2 sons, Tyler and Trevor Tanaka, both of Streeter, ND; 3 grandchildren, Colton, Mayson and Hayden Anderson, Red Bluff, CA, and 1 sister, Jeanette Rex, Redmann, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Memorial Service will be at 4:00 PM Monday September 26, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Streeter, with Rev. Elmo Herman, officiating

Sorry about Roger. He was a good Golf coach to me and he was funny when he take Morgan and Jen and I to Ashley for a golf meet and He will be miss.

My heartfelt sympathy to you all. I enjoyed working with Roger at JRCC. He was a very kind one of a kind man. God definitely gained another angel!

at the Warehouse in Kent we often bring up Roger and wonder how he was doing now. unfortunately I have bad news to pass on tomorrow and I wish we would have found out sooner. condolences to Grace and the Boys.

I didn't know you but I stumbled upon your memorial, you sounded like a kind, humble man who died too young. You remind me of my grandfather. When I saw your photo I wanted nothing more than to experience your life through your eyes, the beauty you would have seen, the joy you would have brought others. I wish I could have known you.
