Robert "Bob" Grohnke, 77, Wimbledon, ND died Wednesday October 5, 2011 at the Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Bob was born July 2, 1934 at Lidgerwood, ND, the son of Albert and Anna (Trittin) Grohnke. He attended the local elementary school and graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1952. He attended Wahpeton State College for 2 years. He then went to Moorhead State College where he graduated in 1958 with a BA degree in secondary education.

He entered the United States Army in 1958 at Ft. Leonard wood, MO. He served in Germany and received an honorable discharge in 1960.

He and Charlotte Silber were married June 15, 1960 at Kassel, Germany. They returned to Lidgerwood in September of 1961 where he taught school until 1965 when they moved to Gackle/Cleveland where he also taught school. In 1970 they moved to Jamestown where he worked at the Anne Carlson School and the ND State Hospital. In 1976 he worked throughout eastern ND as a Master Addiction Counselor until 1989 when he retired. They moved to Augusta, GA until returning to Wimbledon in 1999 where they have continued to reside.

He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wimbledon.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, Wimbledon, ND; 2 children Anne Hovland, Wimbledon, ND; Chuck (Ghene) Grohnke, Gilbert, AZ; 1 foster daughter, Madonna (Troy) Selzer, Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher (Allie), Tanner, Tessa, CJ, Robert, 2 great grandchildren, Matesi, and Marleigh, 1 brother, Dan (Doris) Grohnke, Moorhead, MN; 1 sister-in-law, Marcella Grohnke, Oakes, ND; and a special friend, Scott Dronen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Bruce, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday October 8, 2011 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Wimbledon, ND, with Pastor Robert Hill, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Prairie View Cemetery at Wimbledon, ND.

Prayer Service - 7:00 P.M. Friday @ the funeral home

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Friday @ the funeral home

I am sorrry for your loss. Today (July 27, 2015) I decided to Google Bob Grohnke, my former counselor at Share House in Fargo, ND. I found his obituary from 2011, and I experienced a sense of loss. Bob was very, very influential in my early recovery and one of the reasons I have now been clean since meeting him in 1981! I don't know if anyone from the family is still monitoring this guest book or will ever read this, but please know that Bob helped change my life. I work as an attorney here in Chicago, helping families in crisis (divorce, custody, parenting, child support) and every day I try to be useful. Thank you for Bob. - Kevin Johnson
