Gary E. Hillius, 65, Des Plaines, IL died early Tuesday morning January 17, 2012 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, IL
Gary Hillius was born November 9, 1946 at Jamestown, ND, the son of Eldo Hillius and Lorena (Presler) Hillius. He received his elementary education in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School. He also graduated from the Wahpeton State College of Sciences majoring in Graphic Arts.
He entered the United States Army September 18, 1964 at Fargo, ND. He was discharged August 30, 1967 with the Rank of SP4.
He was a produce manager at Johnson Food Service in Jamestown, later moving to Flagstaff, AZ where he was an offset pressman. In the mid 70's he moved to Chicago, IL and worked in a printing company. In 1989 he became a Postal Letter Carrier for the US Post Office until his retirement on November 1, 2011.
He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was an avid photographer and was also interested in bird watching.
He is survived by his mother Lorena, Jamestown, ND; 1 brother and sister, David Hillius and DeLanda (Alden) Kollman all of Jamestown, ND.
He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Monica Augspurger and a sister-in-law, Shelly (Diede) Hillius.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Monday January 23, 2012 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Peter Strommen, officiating
Visitation 1 hour before services at the church.
