Joyce Olson, 90, Jamestown, ND died Saturday March 17, 2012 at Ave Marie Village in Jamestown, ND.

Joyce Wangrud was born June 16, 1921 near Verona, ND, the daughter of Kolbjron K. Wangrud and Olga (Botner) Wangrud. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and also attended Litchville High School.

She and Alford Olson were married September 7, 1940 at Fort Ransom, ND. They made their home in Jamestown, later moving to Chicago and Minneapolis. They returned to Jamestown in 1942 where she worked at the Anne Carlson School, White Drug and later at Ave Marie (Central Dakota) Village. Following the death of her husband in 1980 she continued to work until retiring in 1994. She entered Ave Marie Village in September of 2011.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the VFW Auxiliary in Jamestown. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting, crafting, reading, and gardening. She was a very good cook and a perpetual hostess. The things she looked forward to the most were serving and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Randall (Nancy Munson) Olson, North Platte, NE; Duane (Marion) Olson, Bismarck, ND; Renee (Dwight) Remmich, Bismarck, ND; 7 grandchildren, Karmel Hotvedt, Maple Grove, MN; Rand (Shannon) Olson, Lakeville, MN; Paul (Molly) Olson, Portland, OR; Robert (Myra) Olson, Flasher, ND; Ryan Olson, Jamestown, ND; Nathan (Kaarin) Remmich, Fargo, ND; Andrea (Aaron) Johnson, Fergus Falls, MN; and 9 great grandchildren, Cameron and Julia Olson, both of Lakeville, MN; Kole Hotvedt, Maple Grove, MN; Lauren and Ashley Olson, both of Portland, OR; Brandon, Brianna and Travis Olson, all of Flasher, ND; and Lucas Remmich, Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 great grandchildren, Drew and McKenna Olson, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 22, 2012 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Rich Fitzer, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery at Jamestown, ND.

My thoughts and prayers go to each family member. I pray each will find peace and healing through the love of our Lord and Savior. I remember the many times I put gas in Alford's car. Gas was only 28 cents/gallon back then. Joyce always made sure the windshield was bug free when they left.
