Harold Weixel, 94, Jamestown, ND died May 2, 2012, surrounded by family, at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Harold Weixel was born August 11, 1917 on the family farm near Lehr, ND, the son of Jacob Weixel and Katie (Weisenberger) Weixel. He received his education at the rural Logan County School and helped on the family farm where he grew up. After the death of his father, Harold worked on the farm and then eventually went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps in MT.

He enlisted in the US Army July 30, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was honorably discharged October 12, 1945 at Ft. MacArthur, CA. He proudly continued to wear a veteran's cap.

He and Hilda Schlecht were married February 3, 1946 and made their home south of Jud where they farmed. Hilda died in 1978.

He and Mary Schmidt were married October 18, 1979. They continued to farm until they moved to Jamestown, ND in 1980. In 2009 Harold and Mary moved to Edgewood Village in Bismarck where they lived for about a year before moving to Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

He was a member of the Jud United Church of Christ and St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
