Vesta Zenker

Velva Vesta Zenker, 82, Gackle, ND died Wednesday August 8, 2012 at the Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Vesta Flaig was born January 8, 1930 in Alfred, ND, the daughter of Alfred Oscar Flaig and Elizabeth (Scheid) Flaig. She attended school in Gackle and graduated from Gackle High School in 1947. She later graduated from Valley City State College and taught school for 5 years.

She and Elmer Zenker were married December 23, 1952 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on the farm SW of Gackle. In 1993 they moved into Gackle where she worked at the Gackle Care Center for 5 years. Vesta retired and was busy with her garden, yard work, and needle work and enjoyed reading. Her greatest enjoyment was living on the farm.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Gackle.

Vesta is survived by her husband, Elmer, Gackle, ND; 2 children, Jeff (Kris) Zenker, Gackle, ND; Darla (Jay) Reed, Gackle, ND; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas (Laura) Zenker, Tessa (Luke) Spitzer, Laine and Taylor Zenker; 5 great grandchildren, Isabel, Logan, Peyton, Sophie, and Noah, 1 brother, Clifford Flaig, Carson City, NV, and 1 sister, Vera (Christ) Suko, Jamestown, ND, 1 sister-in-law, Joan Flaig, Jud, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers, and 1 son-in-law, David.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday August 14, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND, with Rev. Bernie Jaskens, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Gackle Cemetery at Gackle, ND.

Visitation - Sunday 1- 5PM and Monday 10 - 5PM @ the funeral home in Gackle
