Burnett Brooks, 90, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday December 9, 2012 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center in Jamestown.

Burnett was born October 6, 1922 at the family farm home south of Cleveland, ND, the son of Byron and Hulda (Kurtz) Brooks. He attended the local country school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He was drafted into the United States Army December 4, 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN. He was discharged September 20, 1943 at Fort Williams, Maine with the rank of PVT, and returned home to farm.

He and Daisie Hazer were married September 1, 1950 at Woodworth, ND. They made their home on the farm south of Woodworth until 1953 when they moved into Jamestown where he worked at Jamestown Grocery Wholesale for 27 years. He also had his own painting business. In 1982 he retired and they continued to reside in Jamestown.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the D.A.V. chapter #31 in Jamestown and enjoyed playing cards and going to dances.

He is survived by his wife Daisie, Jamestown, ND; 2 daughters, Barbara (Warren Batsch) Vilhauer, Jamestown, ND; Linda (John) Nistler, Moorhead, MN, 3 grandchildren, Kerry Nistler, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Nathan (Athena) Nistler, Cottage Grove, MN; Kristen (Tim) Morris, Bismarck, ND; 4 great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brayden Morris and Carson and Kaelyn Nistler, 2 brothers, Wilbert Brooks, and Luxton Brooks, both of Jamestown, ND, and 1 sister, Lucille Kolberg, Duluth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers.

Memorial Service - 1:30 P.M. Wednesday December 12, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Rich Fitzer, officiating.

Burial - Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.

Sorry to hear about Uncle Burnett. It's nice to know that he went to easy though and didn't suffer. He was always one of my favorite uncles. He was sure good to us kids, taking us to the store and buying us candy. Good memories!

Dear Daisie & Family, Losing a loved one can be devastating. However, please take comfort in knowing that death isn't the end. We know this because Jehovah God has given us sound reasons for hope in the in the resurrection promise. Indeed, we have his word that the dead will rise to life again. According to Isaiah 55:11 and Luke 18:2, his purpose regarding those asleep in death is sure to be fulfilled. In fact, God has already shown his power to raise the dead when He resurrected His son and appointed King, Jesus Christ, who also gives us good reasons for believing that the dead will one day be resurrected to life with the prospect of living forever here on earth, which under Christ's rule will be transformed into a paradise free of all the problems we deal with today. Faith in God's provision for raising the dead by means of his Son, Jesus Christ, can sustain us in times of sorrow. Which is why I encourage you to read the following Bible accounts: (Mark 5: 35 to 43; Luke 8: 49 to 56; and John 11: 1 to 45) which will no doubt strengthen you faith in the resurrection promise and move you to take time to gain accurate knowledge of God and Jesus through a FREE Bible study with the Witnesses before the fulfillment of John 5: 28 and 29. To stress the importance of such study Jesus said in John 17 verse 3 "This means everlasting life"
