Lorene Koenig, 75, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday evening January 29, 2013 at her home in Jamestown, ND.
Lorene Bentz was born January 10, 1938 on the family farm 5 miles SW of Gackle, ND, the daughter of John Bentz and Martha (Gienger) Bentz. She attended the local rural school and later attended the Gackle Public School. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm. In 1954 she began working at Ebertz Café in Jamestown until 1974 when she starting work at the Dakota Inn.
She and William Koenig were married August 12, 1978 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown. In 1992 she went to work for the Select Inn until 1997 when she returned to the Dakota Inn. She also worked at the All-Vets Club for a short time before retiring.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND and the VFW auxillary.
She is survived by her daughter Korene Bentz, Moores Hill, IN, 1 step-daughter Paula (Steve) Stromstad, Audubon, MN, 5 sisters and 1 brother, Helen Gienger, Spearfish, SD; Ray Bentz, Viona (Eugene) Schlecht, all of Cudahy, WI; Eva Schweitzer, Valley City, ND; Phyllis (Hillis) Aldrich, Robbinsdale, MN; Evangeline (Larry) Neuberger, Forest Lake, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 infant siblings, 2 sisters,
Erna and Lena and 1 brother Eldo.

Funeral Service - 2:00 PM Saturday February 2, 2013, Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Rich Fitzer, officiating.

Interment - St. Johns Cemetery, Kensal, ND (Later Date).

Visitation - 9-5 Friday and before Services on Saturday at the funeral Home.

We remember Lorene at Ebertz, where I believe she started as a waitress, was great at her work, then after the cafe closed we would get to see her at events where she was helping serve the meals, she was a great gal, always had a smile on her face!! She shall be missed by her loved ones and especially her daughter, we remember when she was born!! God Bless the family in this sad time.

Sisters and Brother of Lorene, I have been re-living fond memories of childhood years spend with with our two families Sunday dinners. Remembering sledding with Uncle Fred down the big hill North of our farm, I remember Lorene being there and Eva I'm sure you were too, the rest were maybe to young or to "old" to have such fun. Korene and Family, I loved your Mom, she had such a fun personality and warm heart. I can still see her zipping around the Ramada Inn and showing pride in her work and helping others to do their best. I am very sorry for your loss and I pray that your memories make this loss easier as you look back at the good times with fond memories... Lorene: I know the Lord has you in his arms and you are happy. I have such fond memories of you- when I was a young girl visiting with my Dad (your brother Ray) and Mom and brother Rick, you would let me watch you put on your makeup and get all dolled up to go out to dinner and we would chat. I remember how shy I was and you pulled me on to the dance floor at a wedding. You will be missed but know you are healthy and happy with God and smiling down on us. Love you. Niece Debbie
