Daniel Jacob Smith Age 62 of Coon Rapids, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Daniel was born June 25, 1950 in Gackle North Dakota, the Son of the late Esther (Herrmann) and George Smith of Alfred, North Dakota.

He attended Alfred Schools and graduated from Gackle HS.

He entered the United State Army December 3, 1968. He served in Vietnam and was discharge December 2, 1974 with the rank of SGT.

Daniel went to work as a machinist at the Federal Machinist Company in Fridley, MN. He later went to work as a machinist at JR Williams in Minneapolis where he continued to work.

Daniel is survived by his wife Pam; 3 children, Shaun (grandson Kash), Tyler (Tiffany Maidson), Breann (Adam Stegora); 1 brother Jerry, 5 sisters, Patricia, Connie (Wesley Schlecht), Janice (LeRoy Daml), Adella (LeRoy Zeller),Beverly (Bob Smith), Aunt Voneda Stiewe, many nieces, nephews, family members and friends

Funeral Service - 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Burial - Alfred Cemetery, Alfred, ND

Beverly, so sad to read about the unexpected loss of your brother, I read it in the Jamestown Sun, and finally found out where you are, looks like you are still married to Box. Think of you so often, we enjoyed each other so much in High School. I lost my eldest Sis last Friday, she was 82, but had dementia and was in a Nursing Home for years, Lived in Ca. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family, Beverly. Your brother and family had a great gal in their family.
