Elva June Murray, 93, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday December 31, 2013 at the Eventide-Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Elva June Berkey was born September 18, 1920 at Ashton, SD the daughter of William and Ella (Kragenbrink) Berkey. She attended the local rural elementary school and later graduated from Ashton High School.

She and Felix Murray were married May 8, 1939 at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home in different towns around South and North Dakota where she worked at various elevators as book keeper. She also worked as a clerk at the bank in Fordville, ND. In 1982 they retired while living in Wellsburg, ND and later moving to Jamestown. Following the death of her husband January 10, 1995, she has continued to live in Jamestown.

She was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, the American Legion Auxiliary in Fordville, she was active in community affairs. Last but not least, she left many friends, loved to write letters, crochet, play cards and loved life in general.

She is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters, Arlan Murray, Jamestown, ND; Felix (Sandy) Murray, Mitchell, SD; Karen (Iran) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; and Kathleen (Larry) Carr, Fort Worth, TX, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 brother, 1 sister and 2 grandchildren,

Funeral Service - 11:00 AM Friday January 3, 2014 at the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Pastor David Fisher, officiating

Burial - Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND (in the spring)

Visitation - 9:00AM - 7:00 PM Thursday @ the funeral home

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL. ELVA JUNE WAS SUCH A GREAT FRIEND. HER AND FELIX WERE GREAT NEIGHBORS TO HAVE IN OSNABROCK. SHE WILL BE TRULY MISSED.

Just wanted to send a note to all of Elva's children and family to let them know how proud I was to be able to share a few moments in Elva's life. She was a wonderful person to visit with and always had a smile. The most important thing to Elva was her family and so I want all of you to know that she was very proud of you. I will miss spending time with her at the nursing home. Gods Blessing to all of you

I'm sorry I am so late in sending this message, but I wanted to let Elva June's family know how special she was to my husband and I. We used to give Elva June a ride to church frequently and we enjoyed her bright and cheery attitude so much. Also, her Christian faith was inspiring to all of us at Atonement Church. We were blessed to have known Elva June. Our sympathies are with her family at this time of loss. We are sending a small memorial to Atonement Lutheran church in Elva June's memory.
