My sympathies to all of Calvin's family. I remember Calvin as a fun loving young man. I rode with him in his big Oldsmobile when we were attending NDSU. I recall one of those Friday night drives going back to Gackle. We got caught in a storm, the roads were icy and we were going a bit over the speed limit. All of a sudden we were sliding sideways down highway 46. Didn't take long and we were in the ditch. Calvin commented that he knew exactly where we were and he'd get some help. He ventured into the wind, snow and cold. It didn't take long and he was back with a local farmer. The farmer pulled us out of the ditch and we were back on the road. Calvin started driving and said "that was really exciting" followed with his big smile and lots of laughter.
