Ron Gene Ely, 66, Kensal, ND died Sunday October 5, 2014 at his home in Kensal, ND.

Ron was born March 25, 1948 at Bethany, MO, the son Elvis Ray Ely and Violet May (Oswalt) Ely. He graduated from Cameron High School.

He entered the United States Air Force August 7, 1967 at Cameron, MO. He was discharge June 24, 1972.

Ron worked as a migrant farm worker and met Sherry Roach in 1977. They moved to Kensal June 1, 1990. Ron and Sherry were married May 1, 1995 at their home in Kensal. He started driving truck in 2000 until 2005 when he retired when he became disabled.

He is survived by his wife Sherry, Kensal, ND; 4 children, Laura Lynn (Scott) Kollman, Kensal, ND; Michael Shane Ely, Kensal, ND; Angela May Ely, Tolna, ND; Winter Dawn (Frank) Stoppleworth, Jamestown, ND; 7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Donald (Erma) Ely, Bethany, MO; Robin (Brenda) Ely, Bethany, MO; Dixie Wooden, Maysville, MO; Edna Johnson, Pattonsburg, MO: 1 sister-in-law, Joanne Ely, Bethany, MO and 1 brother-in-law, Larry Hill, Maysville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Denny, 2 brothers, Jim and Bill, 1 sister, Ann.

Memorial Service - 3:00 PM Thursday October 9, 2014 in the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Rev. Frank Cherney, officiating

Burial - Private Family Burial @ Kensal Cemetery, Kensal, ND

I can say he will be greatly missed to all. As I know myself I got close to him he was a grrat man and ill sure miss him. I will try to make sure to pass on what he taught me in the few years I knew him to his grandchildren.

I got to know u very well ol buddy.i began to love u instantly.how we always wheeled and dealed in things like mowers nic nacs and such.we miss u very much and I will never forget u.i looked up to as a dad figure.u and the family have always been great to us.we miss u much.r.i.p bud.

Winter, Frank, & Children, Sherri & rest of the family: Sorry for your loss. These last few weeks have been hard on all of you. The next several months will be too. Remember to lean on each other and your friends that is what we are all here for. You will never forget his laughter,smile or twinkle in his eye. He loved each and everyone of you so much. Ron is having a grand party in heaven with all the loved ones that passed before him. He is smiling down on you all. Even tho he hated to leave his best friend(wife), Children, grandbabies, brothers, sisters and friends he now lives pain free. May you wings spread high and you can rejoice in your next chapter Ron.
