Billie Chapin

Bill Chapin, 78, Jamestown, ND died early Wednesday morning January 28, 2015 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.

Billie D. Chapin was born August 20, 1936 at Webster, SD, the son of Deane Chapin and Grace (Bower) Chapin. He received his elementary education in Redfield, SD and graduated from High School in 1953. He entered the US Air Force February 1, 1958 at Fort Douglas, UT and was honorably discharged August 1, 1961 with the rank of E2. He served the USAF Reserves from 1961 to 1969. He served the ND National guard from 1973 to his discharged on July 6, 1983.

Following his discharge he started working at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, ND. He and Joyce Kust were married in July 20, 1962. They made their home in Jamestown and he continued to work at the NDSH in Pharmacy and later the General Store. Joyce passed away Dec. 1, 1978. He and Gayle Schaffer were married June 25, 1982 at Jamestown, ND. He retired from the NDSH in 2001 completing 40 years of employment.

He was a member of the DAV #31, AM VETS Post 4, American Legion Post 14, National Guard Enlisted Assoc., 40 and 8th and was a Boy Scout Leader.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle, Jamestown, ND, his children, Travis Chapin, Mark (Tammy) Chapin, Randy (Ruth) Chapin, all of Jamestown, ND; 1 step son, Erik Schaffer, Rock Island, IL; 6 grandchildren, Trinity, Savannah, Heather, Jon, Zachary, Max; 1 great grandchildren, King; 1 brother James (JoAnne) Chapin, Mesa, AZ; Special friends, Elaine and David Hanson, Laurie and Butch Mosolf, and his dog ‘Shotzy'.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son Leslie, and one sister Donna.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday February 2, 2015 in the Good Shepherds Chapel at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND with Deacon Tom Geffre, officiating.

Burial will be made in the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND.

Visitation - 1-5 Sunday at the funeral home and 1 hour before services.

Prayer Service - 3:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral home
