Obituary

Elsie Wittmier, 97, Wishek, ND, formerly of Streeter, died Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Wishek Living Center.

Elsie was born October 21, 1928 at Dawson, ND the daughter of James and Annie (Meyer) Barnick.  She grew up in Dawson, attending school in Dawson.

She and Jacob were married June 21, 1946 at Beach, ND.  They made their home on a farm west of Streeter where they resided for close to 70 years, of which they milked cows for 50 years.  They moved into Streeter in 2014, Jake died in November of 2014.  She moved to Wishek in 2016.

Elsie was a member of the United Church of Christ in Streeter; she was the Women’s Guild Secretary for many years.  She wrote the Streeter News Column for the Napoleon Homestead for 10 years.  She loved playing piano.

Elsie is survived by her son, Douglas (Glenna) and daughter-in-law, Denise Wittmier, all of Streeter, ND; 7  grandchildren, Amy Borders; Neil (Talia)Wittmier; Todd Wittmier; Amanda Wittmier; Austin Wittmier; Barret (Carina) Wittmier; Christa (Randy) Wittmier; 13 great grandchildren, Jayden; Erica; Chloe; Lane; Katy; Jordan; Brenna; Trent; Aiden; Laykin; Wyatt; Riley; Cambry; 3 great greatgrandchildren; 4 brothers; 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Dale; daughter-in-law, Shirley; 2 grandchildren, Justin and Christopher; and 7 siblings.

Memorial Service- 11:00 AM Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor James Moos, officiating.

Interment- Zion Reformed Cemetery, West of Streeter, ND.

Arrangements- Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

We remember Elsie as a fun enjoying person to know. She made our 2 oldest children Christmas sweatshirts and they still remember them. May she rest in peace!!
