Willis Seibold

Willis E. Seibold, 85, passed away August 25, 2012 at his home in Jamestown, ND surrounded by the loving care of his family and the help of Jamestown Hospice.

Willis was born June 11, 1927 at his parent's home in Wells County, 10 miles south of Sykeston, ND, the son of William and Mathilda (Theisen) Seibold, who are of Germans from Russian descent. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools in Johnson Township (Wells County) and Lowery Township (Stutsman County). He worked with his father on the farm and served in both World War II (1945-1946) and the Korean Conflict (1950-1952).

Willis married Donna Jean Remboldt on September 1, 1953 in the Jamestown Seventh-day Adventist Church. After 3 years of renting a place near the Seibold family farmstead, they purchased their own farm from Emil and Gertrude Guenther and lived there for 51 years. In 2007 they retired and moved to Jamestown.

Willis was active in church and community affairs: he served on the Lowery Township Board; as a church deacon and elder; and chairman of the New Home Seventh-day Adventist Country Church Cemetery. He was active in his retirement years: after farming for 42 years he set up a woodworking shop in one of the farm buildings and made many pieces of furniture; after breakfast every morning, he walked (at a fast pace) down the road (3/4 mile) to get the mail. He loved to read the Foster County Independent and Jamestown Sun, along with all the farm journals. During the winters he traveled to warmer climates, however he made an exception when he followed his passion of downhill snow skiing. His favorite food was potatoes. A man works up an appetite being so active.

Willis is survived by his wife: Donna (Remboldt); 2 children: Llewellyn Seibold (Kathleen), Traverse City, MI and Gaylene Seibold (Doug Regester), Minneapolis, MN; 3 grandchildren: Aaron Seibold (MaryAnn), Detriot, MI and Annalissa Martins (Michael), Loma Linda, CA and Annika Seibold, Traverse City, MI; 4 siblings: Marjorie Dassenko, Lee Summit, KS and Vernon Seibold (Carol Carlson), Jamestown, ND and Lila Erickson, Jamestown, ND and Gladys Hulse Leon), Loma Linda, CA.

Willis was preceded in death by 2 siblings and 4 brother- or sister-in-laws: Valerie Tullbane (Gene) and Glen Seibold (Geraldine) and William Dassenko and Charles Erickson.
