Obituary

Wayne Byers, 72, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday February 1, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Wayne was born September 11, 1950 at Buffalo, NY, the son of Albert and Mildred (Schmidt) Byers. At an early age he moved to Syracuse, NY, attended school there and graduated from High School in 1969. He later attended Onondaga Community College. He then helped his brother at the Autostore in Canisteo, NY and also did broadcasting.

Wayne and Beverly Fiore were married December 23, 1978 at Syracuse, NY. They made their home in Oneida, where he worked as a broadcaster. In 1980 they moved to Jamestown where he worked for KQDJ. In 1999 he became news director at Cable Services Inc. where he has continued to work.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly, Jamestown, ND; children, Cathy (Donald) Meier, Woodbury, MN; David Allen, MT; April (Philippus) Holtzhausen, Jamestown, ND; and 6 grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.

I remember Wayne so fondly! I enjoyed working with him on various programs at CSI. He also treated me wonderfully and what a sense of humor!!! He will be dearly missed not only by his family, but all those he reached through radio and CSI.
