Virginia Ackerman, 90, Jamestown, ND died Saturday July 8, 2017 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Virginia Moser was born February 26, 1927 at the family farm north of Streeter, ND, daughter of William and Pauline (Meisch) Moser. She attended school near Streeter and also the Streeter High School.

She and Melvin Ackerman were married July 25, 1945 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home on his parent’s farm until 1947 when they moved into Streeter where she was a housewife. In 1978 they moved into Jamestown where she worked at the ND State Hospital in the custodial department until retiring in 1987. They enjoyed traveling on bus tours and having coffee with friends. Following the death of her husband April 17, 2010, she continued to reside in Jamestown.

She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, watering the lawn and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by 2 children, Ronald (Patti) Ackerman, Salem, OR; Sandra Ackerman, Medina, ND; 5 grandchildren, Janel (Matt) Bennett, Michael Ackerman, Sarah (Michael) Thomsen, Melanie (Aaron) Ritter, Nicole (Josh Kurtz) Kappes, 9 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Jerry (Kay) Moser, CO; 1 sister, Esther (Art) Bender, Bismarck, ND; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
