Obituary
Ruth Schauer, 92, life-long resident of the Wishek, ND community died Tuesday morning August 23, 2011 at Sanford Health Center in Mayville, ND, where she lived in the Luther Memorial Nursing Home for the past 2 years.
Ruth Heiser was born October 3, 1918 at Wishek, ND, the daughter of Emanuel Heiser and Katherine (Fischer) Heiser. She received her elementary education in the Moscow School District and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.
She and Gideon C. Schauer were married January 12, 1943 at Wishek, ND. They made their home on a farm 1 mile south and 1 ½ miles west of Wishek where they owned and operated a grain and dairy operation. In 1960 they moved into Wishek where Ruth began working for Bernie Entzminger Dry Cleaners. She became employed in the kitchen at the Wishek Nursing Home soon after it opened and worked there for 16 years. She later worked at the Wishek Public School food service. Following their retirement they continued to reside in Wishek. Following Gideon's death on November 18, 2007 she continued to reside in Wishek until December of 2008 when she moved to East Grand Forks living in the Good Samaritan Assisted Living. In 2009 she entered the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wishek, ND. She also was a member of the women's group Martha 8.
She is survived by her children, Roger (Janet) Schauer, Grand Forks, ND; Donald (Jacqueline) Schauer, Foley, AL; Tom (Maureen) Schauer, Sparta, WI; Joel Schauer, Grafton, ND; Rose (Jon) Allen, Grand Forks, ND; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Hardy (Meta) Heiser, Burlington, WA; Milton (Gertie) Heiser, Billings, MT, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Ervin, Albert, Emanuel, Lillian and Martha.
The funeral service will be at 9:00 AM Saturday August 27, 2011 in the United Church of Christ in Wishek, ND with Pastor Tammy Toepke-Floyd officiating
The interment will be made in the Wishek City Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Visitation: 10-8 Friday @ the funeral home
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM Friday @ the funeral home in Wishek.
