Obituary
Ruth M Gomke, 93, Cleveland, ND died Friday evening February 2, 2018 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.
Ruth Suko was born February 27, 1924, in Alexander Township, 9 miles north of Alfred, ND, the daughter of Reinhold Suko and Christina (Obenauer) Suko. She received her elementary education in the local school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.
She and John Gomke Jr. were married May 10, 1946 at Moorhead, MN. They made their home on a farm 12 miles Southeast of Cleveland, ND in Custer Township where they farmed for 45 years. Following the death of her husband she continued to reside on the farm until recently when she entered Eventide in Jamestown, ND.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Cleveland, UMW, 4 H leader for 10 years and a member of the Homemakers Club
Surviving are her children, Gordon Gomke, Cleveland, ND; Donna (Orville) Osborne, Atkinson, NE; Roy (Barbara) Gomke, Jamestown, ND; Betty (Bob) Tonneson, Bottineau, ND; 7 grandchildren; Wayne Osborne, Carrie ( Seth) Holt, Renae Osborne, Steven(Jessica) Gomke, and Denise (Josh) McCLean, Laura and Austin Tonneson, 6 great grandchildren, Dilon, Sophie and Ryken McClean; Jacob Gomke, Jake and Ben Holt, one brother Martin Suko and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband 1 great grandson, 3 brothers, Sam, Gotthilf, and Edwin; 6 sisters, Amelia, Bertha, Louise, Minnie, Rose and Dorothy, and two sisters in infancy.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday February 10, 2018 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Darrell Losing, officiating
Burial will take place in the spring at the Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, ND.

Aunt Ruth was my favorite aunt. She was a humble, gentle, kind lady! I will remember her for her sincere smile and encouraging words! Gods blessing to the family!

My sincere condolences to the Gomke family. Ruth was a loving, hardworking and a great steward of the land. I have fond memories of her working with the cattle, milking her cows and gathering eggs from the chickens. She will be missed dearly.
