Obituary

Luella Schumaker, 86, Buchanan, ND died Sunday evening April 16, 2017 at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Luella Widmer was born April 28, 1930, north of Streeter, ND, the daughter of Dan and Alvina (Mayer) Widmer. She received her elementary education in the local school rural school.

She and Alvin Schumaker were married October 8, 1951 at Medina, ND. They made their home in various cities where she was a housewife. In 1958 they moved to Buchanan, ND and she worked at the Jamestown Hospital as a nurses aid. She later worked for Dakota Bake and Serve and also as a cook for the Buchanan School. She last worked at Mud Puddle Ceramics for many years and has continued to live in Buchanan.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Paulette Schumaker, Buchanan, ND, Sheila (Dan Everson) Kinzler, Jamestown, ND, 2 granddaughters, Trisha (Dane Grebel) Jungels and Kara (Tige) Vollrath, 1 great grandson, Brock Jungels, 2 great granddaughters, Brielle and Miesha, and 1 brother, Robert Widmer, Jamestown, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents

Funeral Service – 1:00 PM Thursday April 20, 2017 in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating

Interment – Buchanan Cemetery, Buchanan, ND

Visitation – 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM Wednesday @ the funeral home

So sorry to hear about your loss! Luella always made me laugh, even when she wasn't feeling good herself. Such a terrific person! Such a terrific family! I will always remember her smile and how hard she worked on her flower gardens in the summer. May the Lord be with you as you grieve her loss. Prayers.

We are so very sorry to hear of Luella's passing. She was an icon in the City of Buchanan. She assisted in the upkeep of the local post office and added her special touch to the floral plantings along with her daughter, Paulette. She will be greatly missed.
