Obituary

Leona Schlenz, 91, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday morning June 15, 2016 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.

Leona Nitschke was born April 4, 1925 near Fredonia, North Dakota the daughter of Christ Nitschke and Louisa (Hildebrand) Nitschke. She received her elementary education in the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

Art and Leona (Nitschke) were married on October 7, 1945 at Fredonia, ND. They made their home 6 miles NW of Fredonia where they farmed for 33 years until moving to Wishek, ND in 1977. She worked for a few years at the Wishek Nursing Home in Wishek. They wintered in Arizona from 1983 until 2004. In 2002 they moved into Jamestown and in June of 2014 they entered Eventide. Art passed away March 7, 2016.

Leona is survived by her children; 1 son, Larry (Gwen) Schlenz, Fredonia, ND; 2 daughters, Charlotte (Jim) Hehr, Fargo, ND and Robbin (Steve) Manley, Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Leona was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia, St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wishek and St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. She enjoyed playing cards and games.

Memorial Service - 11:00 AM Saturday June 18, 2016 in the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Suzie Orlopp, officiating

Inurnment- Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
