Leona Olson, 96, Jamestown, ND died Monday afternoon June 13, 2022 at her home in Jamestown.

Leona Handel was born 1926 on the family farm home near Streeter, ND, the daughter of William and Bertha (Deg) Handel. She attended a one room country school and graduated from this same school.

She married Leon Olson and they made their home in Jamestown. She worked at the ND State Hospital as a nursed aid. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, quilting, tending to her flowers, feeding the birds and squirrels and also playing bingo.

She was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, the VFW Auxiliary and life member of the American Ladies Auxiliary.

Leona is survived by her children, Elaine (Jason) Ackerman, East Grand Forks, MN; Curtis (Liz) Olson, Jamestown, ND; Alton (Audrey) Olson, Gillette, WY; Dennis (Sandra) Olson, Casa Grande, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 son-in-law, Rob Werner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2004; her daughter, Beverly Werner; 1 sister and 3 brothers.

My sincere condolences to immediate and extended Olson family. But especially for Curt on this difficult day. Remember to celebrate Grandma Olson's life and all the good memories. She was a kind, honest, good, and loving lady. She lived a long life on her terms. Rest assured that she is in a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with you. With love.
