Larry Raatz, 91, Jamestown, ND died Monday October 9, 2023 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.

Larry was born June 25, 1932 at Oakes, ND, the son of Alfred and Goldie Raatz. He attended school at Verona through 10th grade and later received his GED. He worked as a farm hand and also at the local hardware store.

Larry and Edith Joubert were married June 6, 1954 at the White Stone Hill Church in Gwinner.  They made their home in Verona for two years where he worked for the County Road Dept before moving to Jamestown in 1956 where he worked at the County Road Dept, Jamestown Public School and NW Bell, followed by Dickinson in 1981 where he worked for NW Bell. He retired in 1995 moved to Valley City. 

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

Larry is survived by his 5 children, Jamie (Donavon) Dallmann, Jamestown; Elisabeth (Don) Kautz, Big Lake, MN’ Kim (Lindsay) Bold, Las Vegas, NV; Larrette (Robert) Scott, Fargo, ND; Donald (Julie) Raatz, Dickinson, ND; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister-in-law, Alice Raatz, Oakes, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edith April 24, 2023 and 2 brothers.

Larry and I had a nice 3 week vacation in the Seattle area after a late winter snow storm in the Pacific NW area. We were just a couple of the hundreds of technicians that were sent to help re build the telephone lines after the snow and ice. Larry was a fun guy and a great co worker. My condolences to the family.
