Frieda Schmidt

Frieda Schmidt, 84, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Gackle, ND died Tuesday March 1, 2005 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND.

Frieda Gienger was born September 10, 1920 on the family farm SW of Gackle, ND, the daughter of Jacob Gienger and Christina (Lippert) Gienger. She received her elementary education in the local rural school and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and Eldo Schmidt were married November 10, 1946 at the Neudorf Lutheran Church SW of Gackle, ND. They made their home on a farm SW of Gackle where they resided until 1991 when they moved into Gackle. Following the death of her husband May 10, 1999 she continued to reside in Gackle until 2003 when she entered Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, the Ladies Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children, Gordon (Colleen) Schmidt, Lauderhill, FL, Diana Schmidt, Austin, TX, Connie Fischer, Gackle, ND, Dwight Schmidt, Gackle, ND, Janell Schmidt, Fargo, ND, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Erna Schlenker, Jamestown, ND, Mathilda Miller and Paul Gienger, both of Gackle, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 3 sisters, Mary, Eva and Bertha.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday March 7, 2005 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND, with Rev. Russell Pollock, pastor officiating.

Interment will be made in the Gackle City Cemetery, Gackle, ND.

Arrangements are with the Haut Funeral Homes in Gackle, ND.

Visitation 9-9 Saturday and Sunday at the Funeral Home in Gackle.
