Emelia Schlittenhard, 97, Bismarck, ND died Wednesday June 22, 2011 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center at Bismarck, ND.

Emelia Schlittenhard was born November 8, 1913 and raised near Gackle, ND the daughter of David Schlittenhard and Rosina (Bechdold) Schlittenhard. She received her elementary education in the local rural school north of Gackle, and helped on the family farm.

She moved to Fargo in 1938 and worked at Uptown Café until 1942, when she moved Bremerton, WA and worked in the Shipyard Cafeteria for a year. In 1943 she moved to Sacramento, CA and worked in a ladies apparel shop. In 1944 she worked for the Greyhound bus line in Stockton, CA. She moved back to Fargo, in 1945 and worked for Fairmont Food as a tele-operator until 1953. She then opened her own shop; Emelia's Apparel Shop and was the owner operator for 22 years until 1975. She became a teacher's aide in the Fargo school system until 1983 when she retired.

She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle, ND. She was a member of the choir in Gackle and also later at the Calvary Baptist church in Fargo. She was a member of the Fargo Businessmen's Club and also the Zunda Service Club.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, David, Karl, Edward, Robert and 3 sisters, Katherin, Ruth and Amalie.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday June 28, 2011 at the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle, ND with Pastor Tim Blackman, officiating.

The interment will be at the Gackle City Cemetery in Gackle, ND.

Visitation: 10-8 Monday June 27, 2011 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Gackle.
