Dennis Nygord

Dennis Nygord, 86, Jamestown, ND died Sunday May 26, 2024 at his home in Jamestown.

Dennis was born December 5, 1937, near Finley, ND, the son of John and Ovidia (Frojen) Nygord. He attended school and graduated from Finley High School.

He married Phyllis Jacobson in 1956 and to that union 3 children were born. Greg, Cindy (Craig) Sargent, and Teresa (Jim) Donica.

Dennis lived in Zap, ND, working for the coal mines as a heavy equipment operator when he met Joanne. They married in June of 1991 and in 1993 they moved to Jamestown. He retired and they continued to live in Jamestown.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Greg, Cindy and Teresa; 4 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter; brother, Fred (Mary) Nygord and several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by Joanne’s children, Chuck (Sandy) Leininger, Sheila (Ron) Walter, Joel (Wendi) Gernhardt, and Tim Gernhardt, and Joanne’s 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob.
