Obituary

Darwin I. Rudolph, 90, Jamestown, ND formerly of the Gackle, ND community died Sunday morning September 8, 2019 in Ave Maria Village.

Darwin Rudolph was born March 16, 1929 on the family farm 8 miles NW of Fredonia, ND the son of Fred and Ottilla (Schlecht) Rudolph.  He attended the local rural school in Haag District and completed his elementary education.

He entered the United State Marine Corp March 21, 1952 at Fargo, ND.  He was discharged April 30, 1953 at Cherry Point, NC with the rank of PFC.

He and Arlene Meidinger were married in July of 1953.  They made their home on the family farm where they farmed until their retirement in 1999 when they moved into Gackle.  In 2014 he entered the Gackle Care center where he resided until 2015 when he moved to Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

He was a member of the Berlin Baptist Church, South of Fredonia.  He served on the Logan County Soil Conservation Board, past 30 year member of the Fredonia Oil Co. Board, Fredonia Lions Club and the Gackle Senior Citizens.  He was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 250 at Gackle. Darwin also enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting rocks and going for coffee with his friends. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Arlene, Gackle, ND; his children, Julie (Don) Metz, Gackle, ND; Colleen (Randall) Lebahn, Jamestown, ND; Robin (Billy Joe) Brown, Woodbury, MN; Gene (Vickie) Rudolph, Fredonia, ND; Carmen (Mike) Polson, Manitoba, Canada;   Arno (Colette) Rudolph, Bismarck, ND; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter1 brother, Orion (Delores) Rudolph, Ashley, ND

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 great granddaughter, Maggie; 2 sisters, Alvina and Annetta, 1 brother Arne and 2 siblings in infancy.

Funeral Service -10:30 AM Wednesday September 11, 2019 in Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Visitation 9-7 Tuesday September 10 at the Funeral Home

Burial - ND Veterans Cemetery at Mandan, ND 3:00 PM

In Lieu of Flowers family prefers memorials to:  JRMC Hospice or Ave Maria Village.
