Obituary

Darren Nelson, 45, Ypsilanti, ND died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at his home near Ypsilanti.

 

Darren was born November 18, 1976 at Valley City, ND the son of Sandra and Dan Nelson.  He grew up on a farm near Kathryn, ND before the family moved in Litchville.  He attended grade school and graduated from Litchville-Marion High School in 1995.  He attended NDSU for a year and then was self-employed doing carpentry and starting his own drywall business. 

 

He worked for John Deere in Valley City for 10 years and for the last 6 years has worked for Froehlich Cattle Company in Montpelier.  He and JoDean were married July 4, 2019; they made their home Southeast of Ypsilanti, where they have resided.

 

Darren enjoyed hunting & fishing, camping; crafts including horseshoe art and woodworking. He loved all the animals around the farm and was a lifetime Twins & Vikings fan.

 

Darren is survived by his wife, JoDean; 2 daughters, Darrien (Chriss Quezada) Nelson, San Antonio, TX and Michaela Nelson, Minot, ND; 3 stepchildren, Tyson, Lynnae, and Miranda Witt, all of Ypsilanti, ND; his mother, Sandi (Robert) Schwartz, Marion, ND; his father, Dan (Sandi) Nelson, Kathryn, ND;  grandchild, Kane Brooks Quezada; 4-step grandchildren; 4 sisters, Danelle Nelson, Grand Island, NE; Dani (Levi) Heinrich, Deerfield, KS; Becky (Nick) Gray, Deerfield, KS; Cody (Darius) Graves, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Darren will be missed at the vendor fairs. He was such a sweet and talented guy. He & JoDean always had a smile, a helping hand and made the day go by faster. I will miss you my friend.
