Obituary

Daniel Edward Henke, 73, Jamestown, ND died Sunday morning April 29, 2012 at the Ave Marie Village in Jamestown, ND.

Daniel was born December 2, 1938 at Fingal, ND, the son of Ed and Martha (Klein) Henke. He attended Valley City Public School and grew to manhood in the area.

He entered the Valley City National Guard in 1956 until 1958. He then joined the US Navy and served from 1958 until January 18, 1963 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of MM2.

He and Bonnie Schauer were married in 1963 at Jamestown, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where he worked for Mellands until 1970. He than worked for Dakota Bake and Serve until 1972 when he went to work for the Goodyear Tire Company until 1982 and Jamestown Tire and Retread until 1984. He started selling tires for Wagner Tires and worked there until his retirement in 2000.

He kept busy maintaining his rental property and did maintenance for the Maple Acres Condo Association. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Bonnie, Jamestown, ND; 2 children, Dawn (Mike) Zeiszler, Dwight Henke, all of Jamestown, ND; 4 grandchildren, Jon, Mercedes, and Lacey Zeiszler, and Britana Giroux, all of Jamestown, ND; 1 sister, Jeanette Larson, Valley City, ND; 4 brothers, Richard Henke, Moorhead, MN; Dave (Jo) Henke, Kenosha, WI; Emanuel Henke, Happy Camp, CA; and Paul (Barb) Henke, Valley City, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Clayton.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Shawn Bowman, officiating.

The interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND,

Visitation - 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday @ the funeral home

My condolences go out to Dan's family. I grew up with Dan and his brothers in Valley City. We went to the same school and were in the National Guard together. Dan was a great guy. Wish I could attend his funeral. W. Wayne Willson Carson City, NV
