Obituary

Arthur Kauk, 74, Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Art was born January 22, 1944 at Kulm, ND, the son of Emil and Katherina (Schlecht) Kauk. He attended school at Lehr Public School and grew to manhood West of Lehr.

He entered the US Army October 20, 1961 at Fargo, ND. He served in Okinawa, Japan until being discharged October 19, 1964 with the rank of Private.

Art and Verna Miller were married December 3, 1963 at Fredonia, ND. They made their home in New York and Massachusetts while he was in the Army. They returned to Lehr to farm the family farm. In 1972 they moved to Jamestown where he worked for Marvin Goehner Construction and later did road construction in the ND/MN areas. They have continued to live in Jamestown.

Art was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and the Disabled Veterans. He enjoyed his hobby farm cows and loved to go fishing.

He is survived by his wife Verna; 1 son Noreldine, both of Jamestown, ND; 2 grandsons, Dackotaeh and Leighton (Shawntel Salo) Kauk, 2 great granddaughters; 3 brothers, Herman (Cletis) Kauk, Wishek, ND; Noial (Tina) Kauk, Bismarck, ND; Roland Kauk, ND; 2 sisters, Ruth (Gordon) Knoll, Venturia, ND and Leah (Dale) Bittner, Lehr, ND.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul and sister, Mable.
