Violet Gienger, 91, Gackle, ND died Monday February 19, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Violet Zenker was born June 25, 1926, near Gackle, ND, the daughter of William and Lydia (Schultes) Zenker. She received her elementary education at School #1 in Neudorf Township, later receiving her GED from Gackle High School.

She and Paul G. Gienger were married June 1, 1947 at the Neudorf Lutheran Church. They made their home on the family farm where they farmed until retiring in 1987. They moved into Gackle in the fall 1992 and in 2010 they moved to Wishek. Following the death of her husband April 25, 2013, she continued to reside there until October 2015 when she moved to Riverpoint in Moorhead, MN.

She was member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Circle, having served as President and sang in the choir. She played organ, taught Sunday school and bible school. She was also in the Homemakers, the Legion Auxiliary, bowled and loved making quilts.

Violet is survived by her children, Carol (Ron) Morlock, Oxbow, ND; Clinton (Gwen) Gienger, Sun City, AZ; Sandra Fjeld, Lake Park, MN; Debbie Gienger, Bismarck, ND; 6 grandchildren, Corey Morlock, Fargo, ND; Nicole Morlock, Fargo, ND; Kayla Thykeson, Fargo, ND; David Gienger, Hillsboro, ND; Michelle Fjeld, Lake Park, MN; Heather Baer, Lake Park, MN, and 5 great grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jacob (Martha) Zenker, California; Elmer Zenker, Lisbon, ND and Edmund Zenker, Rapid City, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother Harold, 1 sister Eugenia and 1 son-in-law, Duane Fjeld.
