Viola Pfaff, 96, Jud, ND died Saturday August 1, 2020 at the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure, ND.
Viola was born June 17, 1924 at the Fregien family farm home near Jud, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb and Mary (Nitschke) Fregien. She attended the Mickelson Township Country school through 8th grade and graduated from Jud High School. She was employed as a teacher in a Logan County country school from 1943-1946.
Viola and Albert Pfaff were married June 26, 1946 at Gackle, ND. They made their home on the Pfaff family homestead where they farmed. In 1986 they moved into Jud for their retirement where she was a housewife and also volunteered at the community café. In November of 2005 they entered the St. Rose Care Center at LaMoure and following the death of husband in 2006 she continued to reside there.
She was a member of the Jud United Church of Christ, congregational choir, Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, secretary, trustee and the Ladies aid.
Viola is survived by 2 sons, Delvin (Karen) Pfaff, LaMoure, ND; Arlyn (Rhonda) Pfaff, Jud, ND; 4 grandchildren, Brandy (Nathan) Klusmann, Justin (Kimberlee) Pfaff, Aleisha (Chris) Maunu, Sephra (Robert) Puffe; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Anna Pfaff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 granddaughter, 6 brothers, and 1 infant sister.
