Rudolph Ruff

Rudolph Ruff, 93, Jamestown, ND, died Monday evening January 31, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND.

Rudolph Ruff was born September 3, 1911 West of Fredonia, ND in Logan County the son of Fred Ruff and Bertha (Karius) Ruff. He attended the local rural school and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm.

He and Esther Krueger were married on July 15, 1935 at Lehr, ND. In 1934 Rudolph purchased the store at Guyson, ND. He was Postmaster from 1934 to 1947 when they moved to Fredonia, ND. Rudolph worked at the Economy Store and various other places. In 1950 he was the rural mail carrier until he retired in 1969. They continued to reside in Fredonia until 1997 when they moved to Jamestown, ND. They spent 15 winters in Lodi, California to get away from the snow.

He was a member of the Nazareth Congregational Church in Fredonia for many years where he served as Trustee and now is a member of the First Congregational Church in Jamestown, ND. In his life Church always came first. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports.

Surviving are his wife, Esther, Jamestown, ND, his children, Leona (Arven) Janke, Kulm, ND, Joan (LeMore) Hehr, Gackle, ND, Josephine (Larry) Bietz, Valley City, ND, Vivian Giannuzzi, Syracuse, NY, Charles Ruff, Fargo, ND, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Emma Ost and 4 brothers Reinhold, Gust, Edward and Wilbert.

The funeral service is at 1:00 PM Thursday February 3, 2005 in the First Congregational Church in Jamestown, ND with Pastor Terri Akkerman, officiating pastor .

Interment will be made in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND
