Lea Hofmann, 89, Jamestown, ND died Wednesday May 18, 2005 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND.

Lea Hins was born October 2, 1915 at Medina, ND, the daughter of Gottlieb, Sr. Hins and Fredericka (Zaas) Hins. She received her elementary education in the local rural school. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm.

She and Jake W. Hofmann were married January 14, 1937 at Medina, ND. They made their home on a farm near Medina, where they resided until 1979 when they moved into Medina. In 1995 they moved into Jamestown, ND. Following the death of her husband, December 6, 2000, she continued to reside in Jamestown. She later entered the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center Jamestown, ND.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran United Church of Christ in Medina, ND.

She enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, quilting, bingo, playing horse shoe and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Paulette (Bud) Carlson, Bismarck, ND; Cindy Hofmann, Valley City, ND; Patty (Larry) Budeau, Princeton, MN; Lawrence Hofmann, Medina, ND; Judy (Jim) Lytle, Jamestown, ND; Duane (Joyce) Hofmann, Medina, ND; Doretta (James) Olson, Donaldson, MN, 1 daughter-in-law, Linda, 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Rachel Hoffman, Medina, ND and Clara Brastrup, Loveland, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Donald, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday May 21, 2005 at the Zion United Church of Christ, Medina, ND with Rev. Karl Limvere, officiating pastor.

The interment will be at Medina Cemetery in Medina, ND.

Visitation - 9-9 Friday at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
