Edmund "Ebbie" Henke, 83, died Thursday afternoon December 27, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown, ND after a 4 year battle with lung cancer.

Ebbie Henke was born December 19, 1929 on the family farm 9 miles southwest of Gackle, ND, the son of Adolph Henke and Mathilda (Muller) Henke. He received his elementary education at the local rural schools and graduated from Gackle High school in 1948. He then attended NDSU for a short time.

He and Carol Moos were married October 6, 1963 in the Gackle Congregational Church in Gackle, ND. They made their home on the farm near Gackle.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle. He was a member of the Germans from Russia organization, and he enjoyed working with genealogy and record keeping for the family.

He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends; especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, Gackle, ND; 1 son, Randall (Meggen) Henke, Jamestown, ND; 2 daughters, Ranelle (Bryan) Miller; Renae (Rick) Wilke, all of Bismarck, ND; 6 grandchildren, Logan; Travis; Kayla; Darren, Jenna and Erin, 1 brother, John (Janet) Henke, Gackle, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday January 2, 2013 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND with Rev. Linda Schauer, officiating.

The interment will be at the Gackle Cemetery in Gackle, ND.

Visitation: 9-3 Monday at the Funeral Home in Gackle, 9 - 8 Tuesday January 1, 2013 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service 7:00 PM Tuesday January 1, 2013 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown.
